Filming Locations Pictures

If you're a fan of the show, you may recognize some of the locations below.

Lets start with Thornley Manor, real name Beesthorpe Hall which is located in Caunton, Nottinghampshire. This magnificent building was used as the backdrop for the first part of series 2, where the lads convert an old manor house in Derbyshire. If you take a look at the pictures below, you may see that the large tower which is located to the left of the building in the series, was only temporary. It was built solely for the show, to make it look more Victorian, and fit in. The front door of Thornley Manor, was actually taken from the Garage of Beesthorpe Hall, this too to make it look more effective on screen.

This picture was taken in 1995, on my first trip. In 95, the internet was only starting out, so my friend and I just phoned Central Television, and simply asked them where it was filmed. The owners of the house were surprised at our visit, and invited us in to have a look at the rooms and locations of where the show was filmed. In 95, the original wallpaper from The Ghost Scenes was still on the walls, and as you can imagine, that was an odd feeling.

The Barley Mow, real name The Windmill Inn.

The owners of Beesthorpe Hall gave us the next location, The Barley Mow, located in Redmile a short driving distance from Caunton. Back in 95, the pub was still very recognizable as The Barley Mow, as you can see from the shot below. If you take away the Ivy, its still as it was when it was filmed.

I recently visited The Windmill Inn now in August 2011, and some major changes to the front have been made. The side Car Park where Oz kicked the ball through Pringle's window hasn't changed.

The  next location, is only a stones throw from The Windmill Inn. In the episode "A Law For The Rich", you will see Dennis making a phone call to Ally. Neville also uses the Phone Box too. This location hasn't changed much either. Here is a shot from the show featuring the Phone Box, and also from my visit in August 2011.
